Hello, everyone!

Here’s another photo, as promised. This is one of the old rose varietals that was in bloom when my sister and I visited Green Knowe (aka The Manor at Hemingford Grey).

Lucy Boston created a marvelous scent garden there, famous particularly for antique roses. She was known for having parties, where she had her guests pick globular roses like this to use as drinking cups.

“It is rather a dribbly business,” she writes, “the roses leak, but utterly delicious; also long drawn out, the process can’t be hurried.”

And I found this quote also quoted on a wonderful rose centered web site, which also has a great recipe for rose petal punch — How perfect for a summer party — I’m definitely going to try it soon! Check out

Hi, everybody!

Just wanted to let you know about a great program we have coming up! To celebrate St. Patrick’s Day, dancers from the Lynne Academy will be performing for us! They’ve come to the library in previous years — but if anyone has missed them, you should definitely come. And, if you’ve seen them before, you should also come! Some of the kids are very young, but they are all very, very good. Definitely not to be missed! They will be perfoming in the hall of the Bethel Baptist Church on Maple Ave. in Mt. Kisco, starting at 5 PM on Thursday, March 12th.  Really, you don’t want to miss it!

I was up home over the weekend, and I took this photo there, before yesterday’s snowstorm. I loved the color of this sugar bucket, & I’ve never seen one like it before. (Usually, they’re plain white — or sometimes the old fashioned galvanized metal).

Well, I wish you all a good week — and I hope all my local friends enjoyed the snow!

I’ve been looking at more shelves, tables, chairs, etc. — and, as usual, I’ve found tons of things to covet!

Just in case I can’t get those amazingly cool Italian shelves I posted about last time, we could maybe install these:

The Spell Shelf!

It’s designed by Da-Eun Song, and you can find out about it at Yanko Design, but I can’t find out how to buy it,(and I’m good at research)!

Well, I wrote to the company to ask who distributed it — and maybe they’ll get back to me.

As for seating, how about this, for reading your favorite baseball books?

Alternatively, how about one of these in the Nature section (or near the fairy and folktales?)

Or, if we can’t get the catcher’s mitt chair, a baseball bean bag like this is not too expensive — or we could get a variety of other sports balls, plus some animals, other than just the frog or ladybug.

I think kids of all ages might enjoy sports ball beanbags like this!

Well, that’s it for this evening. I found that you can order these beanbags in the United States from Cool Kids Furniture. I’ll let you know if I find anything else awesome and completely necessary for our new Children’s Library!

Hi, everybody!

Well, I guess it’s official — 6 more weeks of winter! (But actually, we expect that in these climes).

AND we had the loveliest Groundhog’s Day party at work today! Aren’t these awesome cupcakes?

So, YAY for Puxatawney Phil and all those other weather predicting critters! And many thanks to Mia, who made the cakes! (Yum!!)
