Blue

Little Green Bug
Hello, and Happy Summer to everyone! Today I’d like to share a beautiful poem by the late Irish poet John O’Donohue, as well as a couple of pictures I took recently.
If you’d like to find out more about John O’Donohue, I’d highly recommend you to check out the episode called The Inner Landscape of Beauty in Krista Tippet’s “On Being.” It also features some great photos of Connemara, and Iarla Ó Lionáird singing in a pub.
Enjoy!
Beannacht / Blessing
by John O’Donohue
On the day when
the weight deadens
on your shoulders
and you stumble,
may the clay dance
to balance you.
And when your eyes
freeze behind
the grey window
and the ghost of loss
gets in to you,
may a flock of colours,
indigo, red, green,
and azure blue
come to awaken in you
a meadow of delight.
When the canvas frays
in the currach of thought
and a stain of ocean
blackens beneath you,
may there come across the waters
a path of yellow moonlight
to bring you safely home.
May the nourishment of the earth be yours,
may the clarity of light be yours,
may the fluency of the ocean be yours,
may the protection of the ancestors be yours.
And so may a slow
wind work these words
of love around you,
an invisible cloak
to mind your life.

Hi Deirdrea. This is a beautiful poem, I am glad to learn about it.
The blue art photo is really nice, how did you make it? Would be nice on a white wall. A nice summer to you, too.

Thank you so much!
The photo was actually very easy to do. My little camera does fairly good macros, but it will go a little out of focus if you get very close to something, sometimes in an interesting way.
I just played around, until the colors looked pretty to me, and the soft focus happened “naturally.”
Thanks again, and I hope your summer continues to go well!

Thank you, Birgitte!
And thanks for reminding me that it’s been ages since I’ve written!!
I’ve been following your blog — your photos are so lovely — and you just inspired me to post something for Scott’s challenge, if I’m not too late.
